What area do you cover?
Mr Dilly is based in Brighton UK. The main areas covered are West Sussex; East Sussex; Surrey; East Hampshire; West Kent. Mr Dilly can also travel to schools in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Essex and London depending on exact location. Mr Dilly can also travel to schools outside of the above areas but this usually requires either a two show minimum booking and/or additional travel/accommodation charges - please contact Mr Dilly to discuss options.
For international school visits please email.
Do you charge expenses?
Travel - Yes, travel is charged per mile. Additional expenses such as motorway tolls and parking costs are also chargeable.
Accommodation - Accommodation will be charged for overnight events. These charges would usually be worked into the total package price and not exceed a reasonable amount. For bespoke package prices please email.
How many children can watch a workshop?
Due to the interactive nature of the workshops, we would suggest a maximum audience of 180, and generally a minimum audience of around 30, for most shows to run effectively in a school. If you have an enquiry for a much larger audience please email.
How are the children involved in the workshops?
All the children are invited to participate in songs and/or dances, questions and interaction from their seats. Some children (and adults!) will be chosen to join Mr Dilly 'on stage' and become part of the performance- this number varies between 10-20 per workshop and not all at once.
How long are the workshops?
On average, workshops run between 1hr 10 mins - 1hr 30 mins. Timing will be confirmed on booking.
Can I book more than one history workshop in a day?
The maximum number of workshops in a school day is two. This can be two workshops in the morning, or one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These are usually dependent on school day timings and hall/performance space availability across the day.
Practicalities
For all workshops Mr Dilly will require the following:
Performance Space - preferably the school hall.
Set-Up Access - to the performance area at least 1hr prior to the workshop start time. If a club is running in the space then an area will need to be set aside for set-up.
Get-Out - around 30 minutes will be needed after the workshop for Mr Dilly to pack away.
Parking Space - please ensure a parking space is set aside as close to the school hall as possible.
Equipment - use of 2-3 school benches / 1-2 tables / power source / school laptop, projector and screen.
How do we pay you?
Your school office will be invoiced before the workshop date. Payment is either by cheque, to be available for collection on the day of the workshop OR by BACS payment by the end of the week of your visit at the latest.
What about Safeguarding and Health and Safety?
Mr Dilly is Enhanced DBS checked and registered with the DBS Update service. All workshops are fully Risk Assessed. Mr Dilly holds Public Liability Insurance for up to £10 million. Copies of all documents available on request - Get in touch.

For WWII / Explorers/ Mayans Shows only – a small smoke machine and strobe light are used for some sections of all of these workshops. Mr Dilly Ltd will inform the school of their use prior to the workshop. The school agrees to inform its staff and any pupils should this pose a risk to any staff or pupils attending the workshop. Mr Dilly Ltd requests that any staff or pupil that may be affected, either to not attend the workshop or to be removed from the performance space during the section of the workshop when these are used; the school agrees to oversee this arrangement should this be deemed necessary.
